Open Plan Dining
The client wanted to create a large open plan entertaining area seamlessly combining their kitchen with the outside space. This was achieved by adding two sets of bi-fold doors, to allow for as much daylight as possible, and the wood effect floor helps to bring the outside in. This was enhanced with textured gloss units and glass splash-backs. Separate lighting of spot lights and hanging feature lights help create two zones within the room giving it multiple uses for both work and play.
From Dark to Dazzling
This project involved taking down a wall between two rooms to create a bright open plan kitchen diner. The old kitchen was removed and replaced with contemporary shaker units in a smooth light grey finish. The slate effect Karndean floor throughout adds warmth to the room whilst a double oven, separate gas hob and extractor built into the stepped ceiling complete this sleek yet homely kitchen.
An Injection of Colour
Here the client came to us needing a complete refurbishment of a bathroom and separate toilet. Extensive work was undertaken to prepare the room, including new windows and an unvented hot water system. The room décor was kept clean and simple except for a feature wall of red ceramic tiles with recess shelving. This added real interest to the room as well as giving practical storage. This theme followed through to the separate toilet where space was utilised by using a combi WC and basin.
This project was the complete renovation of a property on Shanklin Drive in Leicester. It was a good sized property but needed modernisation throughout.
The property benefitted from 2 reception rooms, kitchen, 4 bedrooms, family bathroom and lots of character features. Situated on a large plot it also had scope for an extension and was just crying out to be turned into a stylish family home.

Simple to Stunning
The brief called for a modern spacious bathroom. Whilst there wasn't anything immediately wrong with the existing room, space was a little tight due to a bath and a corner shower dominating the room. This was resolved by removing the bath which gave enough space for a large walk in shower. The wall was extended from the corner giving room for a towel rail whilst still leaving a large shelf for storage. This shelf also houses the cistern for the back to wall WC. A modular sink unit in driftwood provides draw storage and coordinates with the natural ceramic tiles.
"We're thrilled with our lovely, light, bright kitchen. James is so hard working and organised and his team are also extremely hard working, from the office staff to the on site workmen. All are very pleasant to deal with. We are also still enjoying our shower room which Oakland also did a couple of years ago".
Mr and Mrs A Stuart, Kilby
"We've just had a bespoke bathroom fitted and it is everything we hoped for. From the initial survey and design right through to completion, everything is well planned and thought-out by Oakland. The fitters were punctual and always left everything clean and tidy at the end of each day, and are a credit to their boss, James Oakland. The clerical staff were also very helpful and kept us informed along the way. We absolutely love our new bathroom!"
Mr and Mrs Brown
"I am completely overwhelmed by the finished en-suite, it is a dream - I am on cloud nine!
The end result looks just like the CAD images mocked up and it is truly unbelievable - I have been standing at the door of the en-suite for half an hour each evening with amazement. I am also speechless at the effort, professionalism and enduring hard work that the fitters have put in this past week and half, but also wanted to express how impressed I am with the whole team at Oaklands".
Miss R Barot, Leicester
"Thank you all so much for my new bathroom. I truly appreciated the fitters attention to detail and care he took in ensuring I had a lovely bathroom.
I would certainly use Oaklands again".
